Dr. Mark G. Zhang was a surgeon in Beijing, China, and is currently a board certified acupuncturist in the state of Virginia, Maryland, New York and California. He has practiced both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than 24 years.

He began his training in Traditional Chinese Medicine in his youth under his family’s influence. He then studied Western medicine and graduated from the in N. Bethune Medical school in China, and practiced as a general surgeon in a Beijing hospital.

He started his private practice in acupuncture and herbs since 1995. He is the founder of Pearl Center of Natural Medicine in La Jolla, CA. After many years medical practice and research, he become very successful in treating many difficult diseases, particularly, chronic pain, auto-immune disorders, and infertility. He uses the qi (qee) style technique in acupuncture for a painless and more effective treatment. He also prescribes herbal formulas for diabetes, immune disorders, chronic fatigue, and other diseases.

Dr. Zhang has not only focused on his practice, he is also involved in many community services. In La Jolla, he was a volunteer acupuncturist in UCSD medical center in Hillcrest, San Diego; an Tai-ji instructor; and conducted seminars in Oriental medicine. Currently he serves as a lecturer and clinical supervisor in the MITICM acupuncture teach-out program.
